The lantern on the Hermit card is one of Roger Buster's favorite symbols in the Rider Waite tarot deck. Like the ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes, who stood with a lantern on a street corner in ancient Athens in search of an "honest man", the Hermit holds up his lantern as a commitment to finding meaning and truth in the world despite all obstacles.
