Cher Cheng Earrings

These earrings are inspired by my mom, and her love for Pka Champa (or Champa Pka) flowers. Cher Cheng is the first of a number of names that my mother would carry with her through her life. This piece reminds me that before surviving the Cambodian genocide, our families had full and beautiful lives. In the diaspora, my mom passed her love for these flowers down to me and my sister. Whenever we found one of these trees, we had to pick a flower to carry the beautiful scent around with us! I used Pikake beads to simulate the long Jasmine flowers that mom loved wrapping in our hair as children.
